Serbian Superstar Set to Face French Challenger in First Round
The singles draw has been made for the second Grand Slam event of the season, the Roland Garros. Top seed and defending singles champion Novak Djokovic will open his 2024 campaign against world no. 143 Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
Djokovic is aiming to defend his title at Roland Garros, having won the tournament twice before, in 2016 and 2021. The Serbian superstar is currently ranked world no. 1 and is one of the favorites to win the tournament again this year.
Herbert is a French player who is known for his big serve and powerful groundstrokes. He has never reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament before, but he will be looking to make a deep run in front of his home crowd.
The match between Djokovic and Herbert is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 27th. The winner will face either Karen Khachanov or David Goffin in the second round.
