Aguero, Mahrez Star as City Dominate
Manchester City produced a stunning performance to thrash Luton Town 6-0 in the FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday. The Premier League giants were in imperious form, showcasing their attacking brilliance and defensive solidity to book a place in the semi-finals.
Sergio Aguero opened the scoring in the 5th minute, latching onto a through ball from Phil Foden and firing home. Riyad Mahrez doubled the lead just four minutes later with a sublime free-kick that curled into the top corner. City continued to dominate, with Aguero adding his second in the 25th minute after a clever back-heel assist from Mahrez.
Gabriel Jesus made it 4-0 in the 34th minute with a close-range finish. Foden added the fifth in the 72nd minute, showcasing his dribbling skills and scoring with a powerful shot from the edge of the area. Substitute Kevin De Bruyne completed the rout in the 80th minute, converting a penalty after Mahrez was brought down in the area.
Luton Town, from the Championship, were outclassed by a rampant Manchester City side. The Hatters barely threatened Ederson's goal and struggled to cope with City's relentless attacking pressure.
Pep Guardiola's men will now face Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final on 18th July at Wembley Stadium. City will be looking to add to their trophy collection and complete a domestic treble, having already won the Carabao Cup this season.
