Borussia Dortmund were held to a 1-1 draw by Bayer 04 Leverkusen in a Bundesliga encounter at Signal Iduna Park on Sunday. Leverkusen took the lead through a Josip Stanisic header in the first half, but Dortmund equalized through a Jude Bellingham strike after the break.
Dortmund started the game brightly and had the first chance of the match when Erling Haaland found space in the box but fired wide. Leverkusen grew into the game and took the lead in the 25th minute when Stanisic headed home from close range following a cross from the left.
Dortmund pushed for an equalizer in the second half and came close through a Marco Reus effort that hit the crossbar. They finally got their goal in the 65th minute when Bellingham turned home a cross from Thorgan Hazard.
Both teams had chances to win the game in the closing stages, but neither could find a winning goal. The draw leaves Dortmund in third place in the Bundesliga, while Leverkusen remain in sixth.
